Alannah & James – Relaxed, Joyful Wedding at Quat Quatta

Alannah and James’ day at Quat Quatta was one our team will never forget! From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t about ticking boxes or creating a perfect picture; it was about living the day fully, laughing without restraint, and letting the moments breathe.

Alannah and James got ready in the city, so our day began there. Getting ready is always the most nerve wrecking part of the day. It settles as soon as the couple see one another, however way they choose to if it’s down the aisle or as a first look.

We spent the day shooting in Digital, 35mm Film and Video, which added a whole other layer to the story. There’s a softness, a texture, a depth to 35mm film that makes every image feel alive. Each frame feels intentional, yet spontaneous — a perfect match for a wedding where nothing was staged, yet everything felt so beautifully orchestrated. The grain, the light, the colours… they make the day feel like a memory you can step back into anytime.

Alannah and James’ ceremony was heartfelt but relaxed. Guests were close, emotions ran high, but it never felt formal. It was short and sweet. I am so excited to share the Video to the couple when our amazing editor finalises it all!

The reception followed in the Quat Quatta Hall, under soft sunlight that drapes in from the stained glass windows. After the formalities were done, we couldn’t get anyone off the dancefloor!

One of my favourite things about days like this is that they don’t need to be about anything else aside from the couples love, their union and the fun of what it means to get married. On 35mm film, those moments take on a timeless quality — soft, grainy, cinematic — and they live in the memory of the day just as vividly as they do on the images themselves.

Alannah and James’ wedding at Quat Quatta was proof that the best weddings aren’t about perfection. They’re about connection, energy, and feeling free to be yourselves. As photographers, we were lucky enough to capture it all — every laugh, every tear, every fleeting moment — so that they can relive it, frame by frame, roll by roll of film, for years to come.
