Melbourne Garden Wedding with Ruby & James

I love working with Jessie of Ruby & James, and last weekend I was lucky enough to documenting the stunning wedding of Thao & Carl at the Burnley Gardens in Melbourne. After a week of wild weather, the rain, wind and clouds cleared for Thao & Carls big day. They had been planning it for over a year, so we were ecstatic to see the sun shining, as it meant their ceremony would take place outdoors in the gardens.

Ruby & James was the creative force behind the Planning, Styling & Creative Direction on the day with my team Blossom Daisy Creative behind the Photography & Faz of Iconic Pictures behind the Videography. I met Thao & Carl for dinner a few months before the lead up to the wedding, and it made such a difference for our experience together. I found that we had a connection instantly, and when the day was unfolding, we had things to giggle about as we had a personal connection over just a professional one. I am passionate about personalising the experience for my couples to ensure we stay in the moment and enjoy the process from start to finish.

Thao & Carl opted for a First Look and to get all of the portraits done before the Ceremony. As it was early September, the sunset at 6pm and their ceremony finished at 5.45pm. This ensured we had a lot of time to capture the small and big moments all before the ceremony, including their Family Portraits.

Alongside digital photography, we captured moments on 35mm film. I am excited to receive the rolls of film back to share with you soon! For now, enjoy the digital gallery, it’s filled with inspiration! Thao’s dress was stunning on her, with small intricate flower details and a soft silk with long train, she was a vision. Everyone gasped as she walked down the aisle towards Carl, and Carls face during the first look was something magical. He was love struck, and their admiration for each other was the epitome of what a wedding day encapsulates.

I truly feel so lucky to document one of the best days in a couples’ life, and it’s something I never want to take for granted. Another worthy moment to mention was the entrance of the bridal party, dancing to NSYNC ‘bye bye bye’ with incredible choreography – followed by Thao & Carl with a sparkler entrance and an epic first dance! Considering they had 300 guests at their wedding, they did an incredible job creating such a vibe in the room. Congrats Thao & Carl, I adore you guys. Cass x
