Ying was one of my teachers at Photography Studies College in Melbourne when I did my BA of Photography between 2012 – 2015. She left a massive impact on me, as she really believed in my creative work. When she proposed to Michael, they held a beautiful intimate dinner where they shared the news with their closest friends. I will have to share that another time!!!
So when Ying & Michael started wedding planning and they reached out to me, I was really amazed and I felt so lucky to have been asked to photograph their very low key Melbourne Ceremony with their best friends, Ying’s Sister, and Michael’s Bestie. It was chic, romantic and early morning (the best light of the day!!!)
Gareth Philips and I were the Ceremony photographers, and I felt like we captured so much magic in just an hour, with just the moments happening as they unfolded… we didn’t go for a stroll for some portraits, it was all just in the vicinity of the Glasshouse at the Fitzroy Gardens, with their ceremony on the steps.
It was the breakthrough wedding of my career, and it was published in Vogue, alongside their epic Melbourne City Wedding Party that was held at Melbourne Town Hall a month later in 2017. You can read more from my PCS interview here. You can see their Wedding Gallery on my website here.
